Tanemura Woodworks is a company that produces fittings and furniture, made out of wood. Our company was founded some 65 years ago, and is based in Hirano Ward, Osaka, which even today is home to a historic townscape.

We want to pass on the spirit and techniques of Japanese woodwork, which have been handed down for about 1,400 years, to the future.

Tanemura Woodworks, specializing in fittings, has been producing fittings for everything from private homes to shops and historic temple and shrine buildings.

It is our wish to preserve the traditional techniques of woodwork in a modern form and pass them on to the future

In the last ten years, we have also been increasingly developing a great many original goods using wood technology, based on our strong drive to preserve the traditional techniques of wood construction in a form that fits the modern world and to connect these techniques to modern life.

The Hanakumiko Series, a line of our products that will be introduced here, uses a technique called “kumiko work”.

While kumiko work is also used in standard fittings and interiors, our Hanakumiko line has reimagined it for use in handbags, plates, and lampshades for pendant lights.
